Charles Geyer was Trumpet Professor at the Eastman School of Music and a member of the Eastman Brass since 1980. Now beginning a new legacy as Professor of Trumpet at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Mr. Geyer is a founding member of the Chicago Brass Quintet, as well as a prime organizer and performer with the Chicago Symphony Brass Ensemble. Currently he performs as soloist with the DaCammera Society in Houston, Chicago's Music of the Baroque ensemble, and as Co-Principal Trumpet with the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He began studying trumpet at age 5 and launched his professional career at 14. While still a student at Northwestern University, he was Principal Trumpet with the Chicago Lyric Opera, and he joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra immediately following his senior year. During his twelve years with the CSO, Mr. Geyer was also Principal Trumpet with the Grant Park Summer Symphony Orchestra. From 1978-80, he performed as Principal Trumpet with the Houston Symphony. Mr. Geyer has been soloist with the Houston, Portland, Chicago, Lincoln, Jackson and Rochester orchestras and is a frequent recitalist. He is a recording artist with the Eastman Brass, Music of the Baroque, the CSO, the Houston Symphony, the Contemporary Chamber Players of Chicago, and, most recently with Barbara Butler in "Music for Two Trumpets and Organ."
